Families of enforced disappeared persons in North and Eastern provinces have called for a massive protest in Kilinochchi on August 30 in view of the International Day of Enforced Disappeared persons.

As the protesting families of disappeared marked continuous protest in two provinces for 2749 days, the Association for Relatives of the Enforced Disappearances - North and Eastern Provinces said that the protest will begin at Bus stand at 10.00 am and proceed to Dipot Junction where they will hand over a petition for UN authorities.

The families of the disappeared have requested civil society, trade unions and university students to extend their support in solidarity with their protest that has been going on for years demanding justice and truth. (Northeastern Monitor/ August 16/ 2024)
