An art exhibition titled "Journey for  Justice" which featured creative artworks on the enforced disappeared persons in North and Eastern provinces was declared open in Gandhi Park, Batticaloa on Thursday (29).

At least 150 creative works produced by local artists and youths were displayed for public view. Families of enforced disappeared persons and their children also took part in the event. The coordinator for the exhibition Mrs Kandumani Lavakularasa declared open the exhibition.

Marking International Day of Disappeared which falls on August 30, the exhibition was launched to create awareness among the youth about the enforced disappeared persons in the two provinces particularly among the young children of the missing persons. A similar exhibition was held in Kilinochchi earlier this month as well.

The creative artworks featured the longstanding struggle for justice and incidents of past injustice committed against the Tamil community. (Pix and Text Theva Athiran)
