Peaceful voting underway in N&E

Voters in North and Eastern provinces continue to cast their votes even though some of the districts recorded slow voter turnout by 10.00 am. While Batticaloa district recorded 17 per cent, Jaffna marked 22 per cent by 10.00 am. 

Tamil Common candidate P. Ariyanenthiran casted his vote in a polling station at Ambalanthurai, Batticalao. 

The voter turnout rate of districts as of 10.00 am: 

Jaffna - 22%, 

Kilinochchi - 27%, 

Trincomalee - 30%

Mullaitivu - 25%, 

Vavuniya - 30%, 

Ampara - 30%, 

Mannar - 29%,

Batticaloa - 17%
