Tamil political parties are divided over contesting the upcoming November 14 Parliamentary polls under an alliance as most of the parties have decided to contest alone or in separate alliances.
Earlier, ITAK called on other political parties which left its one-time electoral alliance - Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to rejoin the party and contest under its symbol - House.
Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO), People's Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) which were part of TNA in the past left the alliance and formed their own alliance called Democratic Tami National Front with Thamil Makkal Kootani (TMK) led by C.V. WIgneswaran.
Most of the parties find themselves amidst internal party rivalries and disputes over seat allocations for their candidates to contest the polls.
Meanwhile, Tamil Pothumakkal Kaddamaippu - Tamil People Common Framework urged the political parties that supported its call to field a Tamil Common candidate in the recent Presidential polls not to use the symbol - conch shell in the upcoming Parliamentary polls.
