CID summons Pillayaan over Channel 4 Easter Sunday attacks documentary allegations

Leader of Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Puligal Sivanesathurai Chandrakanathan alias Pillayaan has been summoned over allegations levelled against him on a Channel 4 documentary on Easter Sunday attacks before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today. 

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nihal Thalduwa told the reporters that the former MP was summoned following a complaint lodged against him by an organization to the Ministry of Public Security. 

The Channel 4 documentary which was aired in September featured a one-time confidant of Pillayaan turned whistleblower Azad Moulana who claimed that Pillayaan maintained close ties with bombers while in prison. 

Meanwhile, Pillayaan who was speaking at an election rally in Valaichenai, East claimed that he did not receive any summons from CID. (Northeastern Monitor/ November 12/2024)
