ITAK nominates Dr P. Sathiyalingam through National List

Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kathchchi nominated its party Secretary Dr P. Sathiyalingam through the National List slot to the Parliament.

The decision on nominating the party Secretary was taken at the Polit Bureau meeting held yesterday (17) where the name of the party's former Spokesperson M.A. Sumanthiran was also nominated. The former Jaffna district MP failed to get re-elected in the last week's polls. 

During the meeting, Mr Sumanthiran declined to accept the National List as he had announced earlier during the campaign period that he won't be seeking entry to the Parliament if he failed to get re- elected on ethical grounds. 

The party secured seven seats across the North and East including winning the Batticaloa district, the only distinct the party won in last week's elections. ITAK returned three seats from the district alone. (Northeastern Monitor./ Nov 18/ 2024)
