Over 100 Rohingya refugees reach Mullivaikaal shore

Over 100 Rohingya refugees including children and women reached Mullivaikaal shore, Mullaithivu this morning after the country boat that carried them experienced distress at mid-sea.

Currently, the refugees are still at mid-sea, with locals and the Navy providing dry ration packages and medical assistance. 

Navy and police personnel are engaged in rescuing the refugees after providing medical assistance. The boat is still at mid-sea. According to Naval authorities, Both Defense and Public Security Ministries have been informed about the situation and await further instructions. (Northeastern Monitor/ December 19/2024)
