Chemmani mass grave: 67 skeletons excavated so far with five more identified today

 

A feeding bottle, suspected to belong to a child was identified during excavation process at Chemmani mass grave site on Tuesday (22). 

Five more human skeletons were recovered today (23) at the ongoing excavation mass grave site in Chemmani, Jaffna. So far, 67 human skeletons were recovered fully and currently placed under judicial custody of Jaffna Magistrate Courts. 


During the excavation process today (23), along with five skeletons, round shaped jewel was also identified. Earlier, feeding bottle, suspected to be belong to children, dresses and bags were also recovered in the last three days. 


For 45th consecutive day, excavation activities are being carried out under judicial directives of Jaffna Magistrate Court. (Northeastern Monitor/ July 23/ 2025)
