Valikaamam South Pradeshiya Sabha yesterday (January 8) removed a billboard that was put up by Department of Archeology for Kantharodai archeological site.
The name board, erected at Chunnakam junction which reads as “Kadurugoda Temple”- ‘Kantharodai temple’ was removed in keeping up with the decision taken by the Pradeshiya Sabha.
The council also noted that it would be appropriate to erect a name board that goes along the lines of ‘Kantharodai Archeological site’.
Considering the Dutch time centuries old market at the junction, the council decided to put up a trilingual name board about the market as well. (Northeastern Monitor/ January 9/2026)
