The Former Head of the State Intelligence Service, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in relation to the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.
A special team of CID officers arrested former intelligence chief Suresh Sallay in the early hours of today (25) in Peliyagoda.
A Channel 4 documentary, based on a whistleblower from a East based para military group affiliated with Pillayaan revealed Mr Sallay was behind coordinating the attacks with radicalised jihadists. Mr Sallay refuted those allegations and informed the courts in writing as well. (Northeastern Monitor/ February 25/ 2026)
