UoJ lecturer found dead; close family members arrested

 

Police personnel found the body of the university lecturer being dumped in Thanankilappu, Chavakachcheri today (March 22).  

A senior lecturer attached to University of Jaffna was found dead near Thanankilappu, Chavakachcheri today after reporting missing since Thursday (19), police said. 


The victim was identified as Mrs Thayalini Thileepan, attached to Indigenous Medicine ( Sidda medicine) faculty of University of Jaffna. 


According to police preliminary investigations, the victim was abducted by her son in law aged 21 over family dispute with the support of her daughter (19). 


Police investigations revealed that the lecturer was killed by her son in law for opposing the marriage with her daughter. Both of them were arrested in Trincomalee in a hotel after they dumped the body.
