Over 11 acres of military held land released in North

 

Senior officials attached Security Forces Headquarters in Palaly handed over legal documents with regard to handing over land to District Secretary of Jaffna M. Piratheepan. 

Over eleven cares of both private and state land were handed over to government authorities by security forces after decades of military occupation. 

Official documents with regard to returning lands were handed over on October 16 to government officials in order to return them to rightful owners. 

Accordingly, in Valikamsm North, 1.29 acre of land was released while in Nallur, land to the extent of 5.06 acre was released as well. 

In Maruthankerni, Kilinochchi, 4.88 acre land was released by security forces. 

Meanwhile, local villagers whose lands are still under military custody alleged that these lands were designated to be released following approval by Defense Ministry during  Yahapalanaya (2015-2019) government and the current National People’s Power (NPP) government facilitated the process (Northeastern Monitor/October 20/2026)
