Chavakachcheri Courts ordered ex MS to submit evidences over allegations on Medical Professionals

Chavakachcheri Magistrate Court complex.

The Chavakachcheri Magistrate Court ordered the former Medical Superintend (MS) of the Base hospital Dr R. Archchuna to submit evidence on medical professionals against whom he had alleged corruption and failure to fulfill their duties.

When the five cases filed against the former MS by other medical professionals on the basis that the former MS intimidated them and objected to carrying out their duties, were taken up for hearing today (July 31), Magistrate A. Judson ordered MS to appear before Chavakachcher police station with evidence after it was brought to the attention of the Court that MS had not submitted it to police so far.

The lawyer representing Dr Archchuna submitted to the Court that former MS prevented doctors attached to Base Hospital from leaving the hospital during duty time and claiming Overtime (OT) allowance payments while working in private medical centres. He had also submitted to transfer the cases to Settlement Board considering the fact that both parties are medical professionals.

The lawyers representing the petitioners refused the request and informed the Court that he is yet to appear before the Chavakachcheri police station with evidence as directed by the Court earlier.

The case filed by Dr Archuna against medical professionals who intimidated him and took away the phone and money is also to be taken up at the next hearing on September 11 along with the other five cases as well. (Northeastern Monitor/ July 31/2024)
