Retired senior civil servant Vedanayagan appointed as Northern Governor

Ex District Secretary of Jaffna Nagalingam Vedanayagan sworn in as Governor of Northern province in front of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on September 25, 2024, at Presidential Secretariat. 

Retired senior civil servant Nagalingam Vedanayagan has been appointed as the new Governor of Northern province by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today at the Presidential Secretariat, Colombo. 

As a veteran civil servant, Mr Vedanayagan served as District Secretary of Jaffna. He was forced to resign due to political reasons by then one of the Co-Chairs of the Jaffna District Development Committee. (Northeastern Monitor/ Sept 25/2024)
