The National Peoples’ Power (NPP) government is planning to resettle those Sinhala families who lived in the North before 1983, according to highly placed sources.
To facilitate the process, it is reliably learnt that respective District Secretaries in the provinces have been asked to compile a list of those Sinhala families who were registered and lived in those regions immediately.
The new move by the government caused worries among Tamil people, particularly those who are yet to be resettled in their own homes which are still under military custody. (Northeastern Monitor/January 7/2025)
