As Sri Lanka marks 77th Independence Day today, a war affected community led ‘Justice Walk’ marked 1000th day in Batticaloa.
For the last three years, war affected communities, relatives of enforced disappeared persons and women led community organizations staged a collective silent protest markc from Kalladi to Gandhi park, Batticaloa daily.
The Batticaloa Justice Walk reaching 1,000 days today is a powerful testament to the resilience and determination of those seeking truth and accountability, according to statement issued by organization's Facebook page.
“For nearly three years, families and activists have walked daily, refusing to let the demands for justice be silenced. This milestone is not just about endurance—it is a reminder of the unresolved injustices and the need for sustained solidarity. The struggle continues to be a symbol of resistance against impunity and a call for genuine action,” the statement reads.
