Military urged to release access road to school playground in Kilinochchi

 

Students of Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam are forced to walk over one kilometers long distance to access their playground which is located fifty meters from the school since military denied access to the road. Pix: M. Thamilchelvan 

School administration of Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam requested the military to release the nearby fifty meters long access road to the school ground since both Students and teachers are forced to walk over one kilometer to access it. 

The access road is cloaed even after fifteen years have passed since the end of the war in 2009. 

Currently, students are forced to walk over one kilometers through A9 road to access the play ground through an alternative route causing many hardships for students and teachers. 

With annual sports meet preparations currently underway, both students and teachers have to walk long distance on a daily basis. Therefore, the school administration and welfare society urged relevant authorities to look into this issue and resolve it at earliest. (Northeastern Monitor/ February 4/2025)
