Trincomalee police today prevented Thiyagi Thileepan commemorative events that were going on for last four days.
The commemorative event, organized by local villagers in the Sivan Kovil premises in Trincomalee was obstructed by police officers today. Photographs of Thileepan were removed from the police from the event premises.
For last four days, the locals engaged in collective commemorative ceremony at evening by 5.15 pm. When the locals gathered today, they were prevented by a group of police officials who came from DIG office of Trincomalee. (Northeastern Monitor/ September 19/2025)
