President Anura Kumara Dissanayake officially launched several Northern focused development projects including an International Cricket Stadium in Jaffna today.
Kicking off his two day visit to North, President Dissanayake officially launched third phase of Rs 300 million worth fisheries harbour development project in Myliddy, Valikaama, North.
Later he visited Jaffna Public Library where he launched the official website of the library and commenced Rs 100 million worth development project for digitalization process as allocated Budget 2025 earlier. Led by Chief Librarian, NPP Parliamentarians, local councilors, Mayor of Jaffna Mrs Mathivathani Vivekanatharaja and local guests took part in the event.
A regional office of Immigration and Emigration office was also declared open at Jaffna District Secretariat in order to facilitate one day service for new passport applicants.
Later, President visited Mandaithivu island where he officially commenced the construction work for Jaffna International Stadium which will be constructed in seven acre land property by Sri Lanka Cricket. (Northeastern Monitor/September 1/2025)
