With twelve more human skeletons marked today (August 31), the total human remains identified so far reached 209 at Ariyalai Siththupathi- Chemmani mass grave site in Jaffna.
For the seventh consecutive day, the excavation activities continued today as part of the second phase of the excavation process. In addition to twelve skeletons that were identified today, another ten skeletons were recovered today as well.
Earlier, the Jaffna High Court granted approval to carry out excavation activities for 45 days. So far, 191 human remains have been recovered fully and are currently at judicial custody. (Northeastern Monitor/ August 31/2025)
