Ex Trustees of Vedukkunari temple questioned by TID


Ex Trustees of Vedukkunari Aathi Sivan temple appeared before TID regional office in Vavuniya yesterday following a summon notice. 

Former Trustees of Vedukkunari Aathi Sivan temple in Vavuniya were questioned by Terrorism Investigation Department (TID) yesterday (October 9) over the temple related activities carried out during their tenure. 


Accordingly, former President of Trustee board S. Sasikumar and Secretary T. Thamilchelvan appeared before at regional office of TID in Vavuniya following a summons notice served by Nedunkerni police. 


Following the questioning, the Trustees said police questioned them over temple related activities in the past, their personal details and over now defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). 


“ This kind of attempt by TID should be considered as intimidation against those who work on religion related activities in their societies. Why the government has to use Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). However, no arrests were made so far over damaging the statues of deities in the temple recently,” said former Secretary Thamilchelvan. ( Northeastern Monitor/ October 10/ 2025)
