| Partially damaged memorial for enforced disappeared persons in Chemmani, Jaffna |
A collective memorial that was erected in the memory of those thousands of individuals who were made to disappear during wartime at Chemmani, Jaffna was damaged by unknown persons last night.
The memorial was constructed during the excavations of nearby Chemmani mass graveyards where over 300 human remains were recovered during three stages of excavation activities till October.
Families of enforced disappeared persons in North and East erected the memorial as part of their ongoing protest demanding answers on their loved ones and justice.
The memorial was reconstructed in October after it was found partially damaged by unknown persons as well. (Northeastern Monitor/ December 7/2025)
