The annual feast of St Anthony’s shrine in Katchathivu island is to be held on February 27 and 28 in the uninhabited island with the participation of ver 4000 devotees across the Palk Straits.
The Diocese of Jaffna which organizes the feast with the support of Sri Lankan Navy and counterparts from Tamil Nadu announced that the preliminary arrangements are underway on the island to facilitate the feast. Over 3000 Sri Lankan devotees are expected to take part in the feast from across the country.
In Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, those who are interested to participate in the feast are requested to register their names with their respective parishes to secure passes to attend the feast.
A team consisting of Catholic clergy, Sri Lanka Navy, and Sri Lanka Coast Guard and officials attached to Delft Divisional Secretariat visited the island on Thursday.
