Seven acres of land belong to Dept of Agriculture released by military in Kilinochchi

Seven acres of land belong to Department of Agriculture in Vaddkachchi, Kilinochchi was returned to the government officials last week by the military after nearly fifteen years of occupation.

The land and building complex which used to house Agricultural Training Institute decades ago was illegally acquired by military following end of the war and being used as military base with setting up of new buildings in the premises. 

Local government officials said that the particular land was returned to local Divisional Secretariat and steps are taken to hand over the land to relevant department for future use. (Northeastern Monitor/ March 17/2026)
