Sri Lanka Navy apprehended two residents of Jaffna who were attempting to smuggle eight gold bars packed in three packages to India.
They were intercepted within Sri Lankan waters and subsequently handed over to Sri Lanka Customs for further investigation, according to the Customs.
Further investigations are underway over the incident.
