Catholic clergy personnel in Jaffna district staged a protest in Jaffna today demanding justice and truth with regard to the Chemmani mass grave site.
Organized by Justice and Peace Commission of Jaffna Diocese, priests and sisters from various parts of the district took part. The protest march commenced from St Juda statue in Ariyalai and reached Chemmani junction.
Fr A. Augustine read the statement and petition that was to be sent to the Office of UN Human Rights Commissioner urging international participation to ensure justice and accountability for their families of enforced disappearances.
Vicar General of Jaffna Diocese Fr J. Jebaratnam, senior clergy personnel and sisters from educational institutes participated in the march. (Northeastern Monitor/July 30/2026)
