Nine (9) Indian fishermen and their fishing boat, which were taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Navy yesterday for engaging in illegal fishing south of Delft Island, Jaffna,
They were brought to Kankasanthurai harbour this morning (4).
The fishermen and the boat were seized after trespassing into Sri Lankan waters, crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
The fishing boat and the 9 fishermen are due to be handed over to the Jaffna District Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department for onward legal action, Navy said.
