| Letter served by CID to Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha officials to appear before CID office in Jaffna over the statue of Thiyagi Thileepan in Nallur. |
Two officials including chairman of Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha have been summoned to appear before regional office of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Jaffna tomorrow.
Accordingly, Chair of Nallur PS P. Mayuran and fellow member of the council V. Parthiban are instructed to be present tomorrow at 9.00 am at regional office of CID in Jaffna tomorrow.
The letter served in Sinhala said that both individuals are summoned to record a statement over the incident of placing a statue of Thiyagi Thileepan during his 39th commemorative event held recently.
The statue was placed ahead of annual remembrance but Jaffna police on September 27 removed the statue saying Jaffna Municipal Council granted permission for temporary permit to hold statue until commemorative event.
The statue is currently under the custody of Jaffna police. (Northeastern Monitor/ October 4/2026)
