At least 30 acres of military occupied land released in Kilinochchi

At least 30 acres of military occupied land both owned by private and state has been released so far in several stages in Kilinochchi so far, according to local government sources. 


These lands were under military custody since end of war in May 2009. 


Accordingly, seven acres of land in Ponnaveli Grama Sevaka division of Pooneryn was released on September 7 and handed over to Divisional Secretary. The land is currently under the custody of State Cashew Corporation. 


In Nallur of Mudkomban, twenty acres of land were released by the military. 


In Iyakkachchi, private land belong to eight individuals was also released to the rightful land owners by military as well, according to  Kilinochchi District Secretariat. (Northeastern Monitor/ September 16/2025)
