A Attorney at Law was granted bail today by the Jaffna Magistrate's Court after being taken into custody over preparing fake land deed documents.
Earlier today, police arrested the lawyer for allegedly preparing a fake deed document to facilitate the registration of a land in Pommaiveli, Jaffna. Police investigations revealed that the said document was fake following a complaint lodged with the police.
The arrested lawyer was released under two personal sureties worth Rs 1 million each, and a ban on foreign travel was also imposed.
Meanwhile, lawyers attached to the Jaffna Bar Council called for a protest in front of the court tomorrow, alleging police turned up at the residence of the lawyer yesterday ( October 5) without any court order and carried out a search in her office.
