A Navy sailor attacked to Punkuduthivu Navy camp was remanded by Jaffna Magistrate Court till October 16 for allegedly raping a fellow female officer in the same camp, police said.
Following the complaint lodged to the Commanding Officer of the said camp, the two individuals were handed over to Kayts police following a preliminarily investigation launched by Naval officer.
Jaffna police conducted further investigations and produced both of them before Judicial Medical Officer (JMO).
When the case was taken up yesterday, the Court ordered police to subject the alleged perpetrator for psychiatric test and submit results in the next hearing. Both individuals are 19 years old. (Northeastern Monitor/ October 3/ 2025)
