A Southern based Movement for Equal Rights, a collective of political parties and Trade Unions staged a protest in Jaffna yesterday (November 1) demanding justice and accountability for Chemmani mass grave.
The protest was staged at Jaffna town area where protesters held Trilingual pla cards that read: “Don’t let Cchemmani mass grave to be buried again”, “Reveal the Truth”, “No more opposing laws, Repeal PTA”.
Southern based activists and locals joined the solidarity protest. Following the protest, a discussion was also held at Thanthai Selva Auditorium reflecting Sri Lanka’s problematic history with regard to mass graves in the island and government failure on accountability initiatives.
