Military vacates 25 acres of private land in Pooneryn after 16 years

 

NPP MP K. Ilankumaran visisted the land area that was vacated by military after sixteen years. 

Over 25 acres of private land in Nallur, Pooneryn was released from military custody after sixteen years. The released land area consist of both agrarian and residential land belong to civilians. 

NPP Jaffna district MP K.  Elankaumaran said he had thanked the relevant senior military officials for releasing those lands after visiting the released land area. 

The military occupied those lands over sixteen years and built permanent structures in those lands in the past. Those structures were seen destroyed when the military vacated the land. 

Accordingly, moves are underway to return those private lands to its rightful owners by officials of Divisional Secretariat in near future. (Northeastern Monitor/ December 27/2025)
