Ragging: Courts extends remand of 19 UoJ students

Nineteen students attached to the University of Jaffna were further remanded till December 10 by Jaffna Magistrate Courts over charges of engaging in ragging activities on fellow junior students.

The students, attached to the Management Studies and Commerce were arrested earlier in November 29 by Kopay police.

Police accused them of abducting junior students from university premises to a private property and assaulted them as part of their ragging activities.

When the students were produced before Courts on Wednesday (3), the Courts refused to grant them bail and further extended their remand. (Northeastern Monitor/ December 5/2025)
