Jaffna airport handles highest aircraft movement in a single day

Jaffna International airport with at least four aircrafts on ground yesterday. 

The Jaffna International Airport  (JIA) yesterday (January 3) another historic milestone by handling the highest number of aircraft movements in a single day, with two international IndiGo flights and five domestic commercial flights operated by Cinnamon Air and DP Aviation.

According to airport management control center, all flights were successfully handled by the AASL Ground Handling team at Jaffna International Airport.

The significant milestone came in the wake of calls to develop the regional international airport into major one with the capacity to land bigger airplanes in order to improve connectivity within the South Indian region. (Northeastern Monitor/ January 4/2026)
