An unexploded mortar shell bomb was found in Chempiyanpattru, Vadamarachchi East today, police said.
The explosive, suspected to be hidden during war time period was seen by a livestock farmer and informed Maruthankerni police.
Police sought approval from Kilinochchi Courts to remove the bomb after visiting the spot and carried out investigations. (Northeastern Monitor/ February 8/2026)
