Deputy Minister visit North to review releasing of military occupied lands

A high level delegation led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Aruna Jayasekara currently visiting North to review the ongoing process of releasing military occupied civilian lands. 

The delegation, which consist of Defense Secretary and senior officials representing forces are reviewing the lands that were recommended by defense authorities to return back to rightful owners and respective government authorities. 

The delegation held a meeting at Palaly, Jaffna today. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the places as well. 

Among the lands that are under consideration for release are agrarian civilian lands in Palay, twenty acre property in Iyakkachchi, Kilinochchi and farming land plot in Mannar. (Northeastern Monitor/ May 26/ 2026)
