Five individuals were taken into custody by Jaffna police over an incident of abducting a youth and tortured him in a van, police said.
Jaffna Crime Prevention Unit arrested the five individuals with a van that was used for abduction along with swords and 2.5 milligram of ICE ( crystal methamphetamine) as well.
According to police, the youth was abducted by the Groupon July 5 in the city area and was taken to Kaithady where he was tortured and later left him on the road in Jaffna.
Police is conducting further investigation over the incident. (Northeastern Monitor/ July 11/ 2026)
